Yosemite threadscape celebrates three views of this magnificent natural wonder in autumn attire: Yosemite falls, glimpse of Half Dome and El Capitan from Tunnel View, and Yosemite Valley meadow. Capture the strength of granite, power of glaciers and tranquility of the High Sierra as you stitch this realistic interpretation in canvas embroidery.

Yosemite teaching emphasis is three fold:

Learning techniques for achieving depth and dimension on a flat surface including contrasts of canvas coverage, stitch direction, and use of color,

Learning methods for creating the multi-hued color of rocks and meadow grasses including single strand thread blending and color treated canvas.

Identifying strategies for selecting thread color, value and texture to achieve perspective.

While the overall project is structured, students are encouraged to interpret aspects of the scene from the original photographs included in the kit.
