Description

This lovely design is a modern version of the traditional Romanian Point Lace technique which includes colored threads and beading. Romanian Point Lace is a tape and needle lace art form, dating from the 18th century, originating in Italy. Traditional colors are white or off white using crochet cotton threads. The crocheted cord is basted on the pattern, then the needle lace stitches are placed between the cords to fill up the space and connect the cords. When all stitches are done, the basting thread is cut off and the lace removed from the pattern.

In class the students will learn all basic stitches, Feather stitch, Simple bridges, beading and history of Romanian Point Lace.

A completed piece will be available during class for viewing and reference.
