Midori Matsushima has worked and lived with the Kinsai Master in Kyoto, Japan perfecting fabulous and unusual techniques in Kinsai-traditional gold leaf application to silk fabric. This is a rare opportunity to study Kinsai in the USA from an authentic Japanese Kinsai & Embroidery Instructor. Either fan offers the beginner or advanced student the opportunity to explore both Gold Leaf Techniques and Japanese Embroidery together to create an exquisite fan to display in your home. Day One is spent applying gold leaf designs to the delicate specially hand dyed Kinsya Chirimen silk fabric. Day Two is spent exploring the embroidery techniques for either fan. You may choose from either Drooping Cherry Tree or Double Cherry Blossom design. When the embroidery is complete it is mailed to Japan to be handcrafted into a fan with a finishing fee of $180 to be paid on the completion of the embroidery.
